We think resumes are where great experience and personality go to die. In the 10 years that we’ve been in business, we’ve read hundreds of insanely boring resumes from some really talented marketing people.
So we’re changing the process. We are asking applicants to apply for a paid social media marketing internship via a self-produced YouTube video AND we’re letting all of you vote to decide who Ink Foundry should hire.
Yes, you read that correctly, we are turning the future of Ink Foundry over to you.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Ink Foundry is offering a paid part-time internship position. The ideal candidate is a creative overachiever who is passionate about food, restaurants, wine and travel. This will become a full time position for the right social media specialist.
This is a PAID internship that offers on-the-job experience in an exciting and fast-paced environment. This position requires at least a 3-month commitment with the possibility to transition into a permanent role within our company. You’ll need to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week; working remotely most of the time; however you will need transportation to attend meetings in the city and the North Bay.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledgeable about social media and its use for marketing;
- Savvy researcher;
- Excellent writing skills are non-negotiable;
- Creative, artistic as well as detail oriented;
- Passionate about learning social media marketing;
- Demonstrate enormous pride in your work, and in the shared accomplishment of the team;
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic;
- Confident, communicative, responsible.
YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO:
- Employ social media marketing best practices
- Research, draft and post articles for the agency and its lifestyle clients
- Research, analyze and recommend social media marketing tactics
- Establish relationships with key digital influencers
- Participate in creative client brainstorms
- Build inbound links to InkFoundry.com and client websites
- Manage Ink Foundry’s social media profiles including Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare & YouTube
- Run Google Analytics reports
- Identify relevant conversations using social media tracking software
- Code FBML, minor HTML
PAY, HOURS, COMMITMENT:
- Paid internship: $12 per hour
- Hours per week: 15 (potentially more) with the possibility of full time work
- Commitment: 3 months: with a possible indefinite extension
HOW TO APPLY:
- Create a maximum 3 minute (or less) video about how this is the perfect internship for you. Key items to include:
- Your name
- Your experience with social media
- Any work experience
- Education
- Your three best skills
- Why you want to work at Ink Foundry
- Three social media thought leaders or bloggers who you admire
- Demonstrate your creativity, sense of humor, fun spirit
- Describe your perfect work day
- Upload your video to YouTube with the tag “Ink Foundry SMM Intern” in quotation marks. The tag should look like the below photo when you are uploading your video.

- Leave a comment on this post with a link to your video and a link to three writing samples.
- Deadline: Upload your video and post your comment by 5pm Pacific, Thursday, Feb 4th.
SELECTION PROCESS:
- The Ink Foundry team will select our top 10 favorites based on the above criteria.
- We are not looking for the slickest produced video from your brother-in-law, the Hollywood feature film director. We want to get to know you.
- The top 10 videos will be posted on the InkFoundry.com site; http://www.facebook.com/socialmediago and on the Ink Foundry YouTube channel.
- This is where the real fun begins -
- Ink Foundry will hire the person who receives the most votes.
- Video submission and posts will not be considered after 5pm PT on Thursday, February 4th.
- The top 10 videos as selected by Ink Foundry will be posted by Monday, February 8th.
- Voting will begin on Monday, Feb 8 and close at midnight on Friday, Feb 12.
- Round up your friends, professors, family, fans and followers and get them to vote for you!
