Who will be the next Ink Foundry team member? It’s up to you.
We have received some fantastic video applications for the paid social media marketing internship and have selected three awesome candidates. They are Rachel T, Lauren B and Tyler M.
We think they are all great and will be THRILLED with anyone of them who receives the most votes from you. Although if we had the budget, we’d scoop up all three. Greedy of us, but they are worth it.
Please vote for the person who you believe deserves to get their social media career started as the next Ink Foundry team member.
We reduced the list down to three from our initial intent to have 10 for you to vote on. In the past we’ve received hundreds of email resumes; but when we ask individuals to create a video resume, the applicants dropped significantly. Our take on it? When you ask people to do something exceptional, like create a video resume, only the exceptional step up.
Deadline: Voting will close at midnight on Friday, Feb 12.
Round up your friends, professors, family, fans and followers and get them to vote with you!
Who Will Be Ink Foundry's Next Team Member?

This post was mentioned on Twitter by inkfoundry: @Leader4hire thanks for all of your support. We just posted the three intern vids to be voted on. http://ow.ly/154iS...
leader4hire February 8th, 2010 at 9:47 am
First, your vote options are not in the same order as the videos – may skew results for those in a hurry who assume the names are listed in the same order as the videos. (Just saying *grin*)
My Observations:
Lauren: studious, disciplined, task oriented and wants to achieve something special. Has strong media background with “real” organizations. Liked the outside shots to reveal background and personality.
Rachel: socially oriented with a personal focus, strong propensity to experiment and try new things. Liked the call to action to vote for her.
Tyler: comfortable communicating and selling, very conversational and inviting, good sense of humor, transparent. Liked the conversation style and the request for interview.
All good candidates to consider. 2 of these people are easy to say yes to.
Good luck,
Justin McCullough

Hi Justin,
Thanks for voting! We would be thrilled if we could have ALL of them, but I guess that would just be greedy.
Love your observations.
Best,
Carin

Carin Galletta February 8th, 2010 at 1:40 pm
There is a voting poll on the bottom of the post. Let me know if you can’t find it or if it doesn’t pop up for you for some reason.
lishabisha February 8th, 2010 at 1:48 pm
It’s still not popping up and I’ve tried it in both Safari and Firefox. We want to vote for Lauren!

We’ve had a couple of people report some problems with the voting engine. If you have any trouble voting then please leave a comment here, tell us what the problem is and we will help you out.

I vote for Tyler.

Carin:
I am on an Apple MacBook Pro. There is no pop up to place a vote. Sorry, but other users are correct; it’s not possible to vote due to some strange coding error.
In any case, I’d like to vote for Tyler and also be notified when the site is fixed to properly accept and record votes so I can forward the link to my friends and contacts so they too can vote for their favorite candidate.
fogcitynative February 8th, 2010 at 9:39 pm
Checked to make sure nothing was being blocked by my Ad Blocker plug in; so I disabled it and there is still no way to vote.

Hello all!
We have received a couple complaints where people are reporting that they have no option to vote. We’ve investigated the issue extensively and wanted to report to you what all is going on:
Our voting system has two methods of preventing voter fraud: first, it logs all voter’s IP addresses. Second, it places a cookie on the user’s computer logging them as having voted. If either of these items “say” that a user has voted, it will not give you the option to vote. This is designed to provide the maximum security against voter fraud and ensure that everyone has a fair chance at the internship.
Unfortunately, IP addresses are not always exclusive. Some homes will share one IP address among several computers. Same goes with businesses. Some internet service providers (like AOL) have only one IP address for ALL their subscribers. So if one person on these system votes, it will log the address and prevent everyone else on that IP address from voting as well. This is a defect of the quality — the higher security prevents voter fraud, but prevents some potential voters from voting.
I’ve double checked the complaints with the voter logs and have verified in each case that the IP address has been previously logged. At the time of this comment, we have had over 760 votes, but only 7 people have reported problems logging their votes, so it’s safe to say that the vast majority of voters are able to use the system without problems.
That said, EVERY vote is important to us!! For those of you who are not able to see the voting button, please simply post a comment here indicating who you vote for. We will be able to check your IP address to validate you’re not a duplicate voter and we WILL credit the correct candidate with your vote!
Thank you all once again for your participation!

I have a number of friends who tried to vote for Tyler over the last several hours, and it doesn’t work. It can’t be possible that it is blocked for so many people!
Please see if there is another way to place votes – we want Tyler!

I question the validity of the totals. If you add up all the votes, the total is off by five. And I thought you could vote once every hour? That’s what Rachel said during her broadcast on JTV. Just wondering.
Eric Oliver February 11th, 2010 at 8:08 pm
Hi Mona! The difference in the votes is to account for some people who were unable to vote using the buttons and submitted their votes via the comment system. Since we adjust the totals on the back end, the system on the front does not count them as votes input through the buttons on the page. As for the time period, you are not able to vote once per hour – you’re able to vote once per day. Thanks for participating!

I am very disturbed by this system of voting. I have many friends who have tried to vote for Tyler over the past several hours (many on the East coast), and they have emailed to tell me there is no vote button by his name. In fact, a couple told me there were vote buttons affiliated with the other two candidates, but not Tyler.
He is being short-changed. There are at least 11 people who have told me this. Please rectify the situation. Thank you.
Eric Oliver February 12th, 2010 at 11:03 am
Hi Patti!
I can assure you that we are in no way attempting to shortchange Tyler. The code is exactly the same for him as for everyone else. Frankly, it’s impossible for radio buttons to show up next to the other candidates and not for him. That said, I appreciate your concern — as I’ve indicated before, simply have people vote for him using the comment system and I’ll make sure that he gets credited for the proper votes. Thanks again for your participation!

I want to vote for Tyler M. His intelligence and good humour shine through on this video. He’d be ideal in this position and you’d be lucky to have him.
Eric Oliver February 12th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
@brendan @LINDSAYJONES @gaylenevergail — Thank you for your votes; we’ve added them to Tyler’s tally!

@lauren Whoops – my bad! You’re right! I’ve updated the votes.
gotyler22 February 12th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
I have voted for Tyler, but I would just like to point out the unfairness in the voting process because Rachel received many votes from an only pranking show called fridaynightcranks.com where many of the viewers simply voted because they were told so by the host of the show. I have nothing against Rachel, but I find it highly unfair that she received hundreds of votes from people who didn’t even watch the applicants videos.
Carin Galletta February 12th, 2010 at 10:52 pm
@gotyler22 – so let me get this straight: you think it’s unfair because Rachel mobilized the masses – a key social media marketing attribute – to vote for her? What exactly is unfair about that? I find it highly unfair that you believe that the people who voted for Rachel didn’t watch the videos. If you look at the number of views on each of the candidates videos, Rachel’s views on her video outstrip Tyler’s by more than 700 views. Is it still “unfair”?
rachel February 12th, 2010 at 11:19 pm
THANK YOU! I have been reading and getting messages all week accusing me of cheating. I haven’t cheated! I haven’t even used another computer to vote for myself, and I have like 5 computers in my house. I haven’t felt the need to cheat. The prank show that helped me get votes was only only from 9-11pm TONIGHT. I have had more votes/views all week. Even if I didn’t, this is all social media marketing, and I don’t know why that’s so hard for everyone who has been harassing me to grasp. I have been getting votes they way I am supposed to. It’s not unfair, and I’m not cheating.
