With all of the self-proclamations of “social media guru/genius/expert” being strewn about on a daily basis, it can be challenging to separate the snake oil salesman from the professionals who truly embody SMM professionalism. One of the places that we found one of the biggest gatherings of word of mouth thought leaders was at last year’s Word Of Mouth Marketing Association’s Summit held in Las Vegas. We leaned a ton in a very vibrant environment where everyone was super accessible and eager to share their knowledge. The WOMMA Summit was an eye opening experience for our team that made us even more excited about being part of the digital marketing community.

It was probably the best investment of time and money that our agency made to give us a better understanding of social media marketing and how to integrate it into our offline activities. We have continued to learn from WOMMA through out the year, made some great contacts and new friends. My partner and I will be attending again this year and we hope to see you there. Please check out the Summit site for more information. See you in Vegas, baby!

Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), today announced that the United States Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 223 designating the month of September 2009 as National Child [...]

Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), today announced that the United States Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 223 designating the month of September 2009 as National Child Awareness Month, July 24, 2009. The companion bill, House Resolution 438, passed with a unanimous vote in the House of Representatives on May 18, 2009.

“Charitable organizations that serve our nation’s children provide invaluable services that enrich the lives of children and their families and our nation as a whole,” said Senator Richard Burr. “These charities help to provide a better future for our children and youth. I am pleased the Senate passed this resolution recognizing the hundreds of charitable organizations throughout the United States that work every day in the interest of our nation’s children.”

“Children’s charities provide important services to millions of disadvantaged youngsters to help better prepare them for the future,” said Senator Dianne Feinstein. “The invaluable work they do every day in communities in California and across the country — including afterschool tutoring, counseling services for at-risk youth, and outdoor and arts activities — should be acknowledged and praised, particularly in these tough economic times.”

The history behind the recognition of National Child Awareness Month can be attributed to Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, Founder & Executive Director of Festival of Children Foundation, who initiated this effort eight years ago and has been diligent in raising awareness of this issue through the local, state and federal political processes and by enlisting the assistance of charitable organizations nationwide. Bearing a striking resemblance to Festival of Children Foundation’s goals and objectives, National Child Awareness Month has been designated to promote awareness of children’s charities and youth-serving organizations across the United States and to recognize the charitable efforts on behalf of children and youth as a critical contribution to the future of our nation.

“Our children are the greatest legacy that our nation can invest in,” remarked Sandy. “I appreciate the continued support of Senators Burr and Feinstein and Congressman Ken Calvert and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez in making National Child Awareness Month an effective tool to increase awareness of the needs for children in our country.”

Although Festival of Children Foundation supports more than 400 member organizations, NCAM is meant to raise awareness for all children’s charities nationwide, and all are invited to take part in NCAM’s mission to focus America’s attention on four guiding principles:

Nurture one child. That’s all it takes to make a difference.

Children are the future of philanthropy. It’s our responsibility to teach them the importance of sharing and giving back.

Actions speak louder than words. Find a children’s cause that’s important to you and get involved.

Many hands make light work. So join forces with those who share your goals and dreams.

Daniels’ foundation will host the 8th Annual Festival of Children® in celebration of NCAM beginning September 4th at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA. The month-long Festival will offer over 100 free family activities and events, including: live music and dance performances, celebrity appearances, and arts and crafts, while showcasing several youth-serving organizations proudly serving children in the community.

About Festival of Children Foundation
Festival of Children Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that serves to bring together and coordinate the efforts of charities, companies and individuals who actively work to improve the lives of children. Festival of Children Foundation gives a voice, guidance and support. 100% of the administrative costs are covered by designated funding, allowing donations to go further in direct support of programs and services that improve the lives of children.
About Micks New Billboard Charting CD: BLUE AGAIN
Mick Fleetwood, the iconic co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, celebrates his blues heritage with his new CD BLUE AGAIN, by The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band. On the week of release, this album hit the Billboard Blues Charts at #4, the iTunes Blues Chart at #1 and had rave reviews by such respected entities as AMG (All Music Guide).

The band features a tribute to the original Fleetwood Mac, the all-male blues band that started it all in 1967. This powerhouse blues project features versions of early Peter Green-penned hits such as ‘Black Magic Woman,’ ‘Albatross’ and ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ as well as original material composed by Rick Vito (with a rollicking version of Elmore James’ ‘Shake Your Moneymaker’ included for good measure).

BLUE AGAIN is both an original musical tour de force and a respectful tribute to Fleetwood Mac (in the midst of celebrating their 40th Anniversary), initiated by the sole member of the band to be in every incarnation from the beginning.

About Mick Fleetwood
Mick Fleetwood, legendary drummer and co-founding member of Fleetwood Mac was born June 24, 1947 in Cornwall, England. He began his professional drumming career at the age of 16 and has remained at the forefront of the music industry for over 40 years. In 1967, Fleetwood, along with Peter Green and John McVie formed the original Fleetwood Mac, a band that subsequently became one of the leading blues bands of that era. A later incarnation of Fleetwood Mac including Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie released the bands 1977 multi-Grammy Award winner RUMOURS, which remains one of the biggest selling albums in music history. In 1998 Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. From 2003 through 2004 the band once again embarked on a world tour and released their critically acclaimed album Say You Will. Mick and his band, Fleetwood Mac, plan to continue making great music long into the future.

Mick manages his own wine enterprise, Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar. As with everything else in his life, Mick uses a hands-on approach to selecting, blending, critiquing and ultimately creating any wine that earns the distinction Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar. Fleetwood explains. I find so many parallels between the wine blending and creating music. Just a little change to either mix can make all the difference. Its so much about really caring and paying attention in the process.

Festival of Children Foundation Supporters Join Together On South Coast Plaza Carousel To Raise Funds

WHAT:
After a day of wheeling and dealing at the office, some of Orange County’s most prominent residents are coming together to each raise $4000 as they go round and round and up and down on the herd of Carousel Bunnies at South Coast Plaza.

Armed with the century’s most valuable tool, the cell phone, the select group will test the value of their address book in a final push to collect the remaining capital needed to fully fund the commitment to The Season of Caring presents The Possible Dream.

Because the current economy has dramatically affected charitable giving, Festival of Children Foundation has had to think outside the black tie fundraiser to generate excitement to drive donations.

Participants will not be allowed to hop off the carousel until they have reached the $4,000 minimum donation. 100 percent of funds raised will go directly to the ten children’s charities selected to receive funds from The Season of Caring presents The Possible Dream.

WHERE:
South Coast Plaza Carousel
3333 Bristol Street, Costa Mesa, Level One, Carousel Court

WHEN:
Tuesday, March 24, 2009, Begins at 4pm
Riders will stay on the carousel until their funds have been raised

MEDIA I/V & VISUALS:
•	South Coast Plaza Carousel will wear its “Easter Best,” participants to ride Easter Bunnies
•	Charity members and supporters, friends, family and baffled bystanders encouraging carousel participants
•	Celebration of first and last riders to achieve donation goal

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Executive Chef Russell Skall has designed a wine dinner that will rock the house with a special menu as unforgettable as a classic guitar lick. Glasses will be filled with wines made by rock ’n’ roll legends. Trivia games will be played, CDs will reward the winners, and great music will go through the night.

The three-course dinner opens with the Double Platinum Champagne Cocktail, created by mixologist Kim Haasarud, author of 101 Champagne Cocktails. This original creation is followed by Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar Riesling and Doobie Red, made by Doobie Brothers manager and winemaker B.R. Cohn. Each is perfectly paired with Executive Chef Russell Skall’s rockin’ menu.

Rock star and winemaker, Mick Fleetwood partners with different wineries and winemakers to create varietals he personally likes to drink and share with friends. For the Riesling featured in the Vintage Rock Wine Dinner, Fleetwood partnered with Firestone Vineyard —using grapes from the cool, Riesling-friendly marine climate of Santa Barbara and Monterey Counties. With its bright, off-dry flavors of apricot, melon and honeysuckle, the slight sweetness of his 2005 Riesling balances its acidity, for a wine as accessible as a catchy tune.

“My signature wines are mellow and easy to drink,” Fleetwood says. “Wine should always be fun, never challenging.”

Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar began in 2001 with his single vintage 1998 Cuvée. The winery has since grown to include seventeen wines, and Fleetwood’s Riesling recently garnered a “Best Wine” mention from the Wall Street Journal, as well as a bronze medal from the San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition.

Doobie Red, North Coast Collectors Series, was created by Bruce Cohn, who, in addition to having managed The Doobie Brothers for 35 years, is also owner of the acclaimed B.R. Cohn Winery Sonoma Valley. Cohn created Doobie Red in memory of Keith Knudsen, who had been the drummer for The Doobie Brothers from 1974 until his death in 2005 at the age of 56. The proceeds from Doobie Red benefit the National Veterans Foundation, an organization that was important to Keith, and close to the hearts of everyone involved with the band.

The Vintage Rock Wine dinner is $55 per person, not including tax and gratuity. This one night performance will take place on either Tuesday, March 10, or Friday, March 13, at 6:30pm. Reservations are recommended for this event. Please visit www.FlemingsSteakhouse.com for your nearest Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar location and to view event dates by location.
